Is the Latin word for “Pain” down the back of the leg” Sciatica is referred pain often caused by squashing the sciatic nerve in the base of the back. The sciatic nerve travels from the lower back down through the buttocks and along the rear of the leg. Sciatica is pain along this nerve and is a fairly common type of back pain and is normally caused by pressure on the sciatic nerve from a herniated or bulging disc. The pain from sciatica can be anything from infrequent and irritating to severe and crippling.
Normally, it affects only one side, the pain moving down the buttock and down the leg and is frequently linked with a nagging pain on one side of the buttocks, pain in the leg and/or buttock that may become more painful when sitting. Other sensations are a burning or tingling along the leg, weakness, numbness or difficulty using the leg or foot or a shooting pain that makes it hard to stand up.
Though sciatica can be extremely painful and uncomfortable, it is rare that permanent nerve harm (tissue injury) results. Most pain is because of swelling and will improve within a period of time. Nerve pain is due to a combination of pressure and swelling on the nerve root, and treatment is focused on allieviating both of these conditions. Back pain is extremelly uncomfortable and this amazing technique helps relieve the pain and get people back to their normal existence.
